Frequently Asked Questions
Can we take pictures while on the trail?
Unfortunately insurance does not allow guests to be able to use cameras or their cellphones while seated in the saddle, plus its much easier to drop something on the trail than most people expect! (See our lost and found full of sunglasses, hats etc)
We are more than happy to take photos for you!
What type of footwear is appriopriate?
Closed toe shoes are going to be the most comfortable! Leave your flip flops in the car, they will not be kind to your feet in the stirrup and theres a chance you can lose one on the trail
Will there be wildlife?
We cannot guarantee that you will see wildlife but many people have experienced seeing wild Deer, Geese, Ducks, Beavers and a slew of natural birds and critters native to the Adirondacks
Ive Never Ridden a horse before! Will I be okay?
No problem! For the majority of riders, this is their first experience on horseback! The horses have been doing this for over 20 years and will make it down the trail and back with minimal input from you. If you need a confidence boost, checkout the “Reviews!” Page to hear what other first time riders thought
Do I leave a tip?
***We do ask you leave/bring a tip for your guide, they work very hard to make sure our horses are happy and healthy and take many steps to ensure your safety. Guides work for low wages, like servers and depend on tips for income. We do this to keep prices as low as possible for our guests. You can leave a tip when you book online, bring cash, our guides also have their cashapp and venmo information posted at the ranch when you get there. Thank you!!!***
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, we do have a weight limit but it is not just cut and dry. We usually cannot take anyone over 250lbs, that being said, someone who is 5’ tall and 250lbs has a very different body type and will carry themself differently than someone who is 6’4” and 250lbs. If you are a taller build and close to this weight please call us to discuss this further as we may be able to accommodate you. We unfortunately cannot take anyone that is 5’2” and under and 200lbs or more. If you have any questions or concerns about this please text or call Cowboy Pete at 518-932-2139. We have these rules in place for your safety and our horses safety. We truly want to make sure everyone is as comfortable and as safe as possible on our trail rides.
